Just 16 miles northwest of San Antonio, Helotes, TX was originally established as a farming and ranching area. After the Texas Revolution, the damaged land was purchased and passed down to various Scottish and Swiss immigrants who played a large role in its development. Under this leadership, post offices and mercantile stores were built, helping the economy and bringing life to the town. Although much of its original charm is still apparent throughout the city, Helotes has become more suburbanized in the 20th and 21st centuries and is now one of the most desirable places to live outside of San Antonio.
